How to Care for Seagrass Mats:

Natural fibre floor coverings, like Seagrass mats, are relatively easy to maintain. This is because dirt does not cling to the hard fibres, but rests loosely in the weave. Seagrass mats are naturally stain-resistant and will last a long time if cared for properly.

Normal Maintenance:

Regular vacuuming is the best care to keep the appearance of your Seagrass Circular Rug fresh. Visible and loose dirt should be vacuumed with a strong suction attachment. Do not use the roller brush. Vacuum the carpet from different directions, making several passes over the area.
Although the need may not be visible, this frequent and regular vacuuming will increase Seagrass mats life by preventing soil build-up and will help eliminate stains caused when spilt liquids dissolve soil accumulations.

Questions:

Can Seagrass rugs get wet? Never steam-clean or shampoo a Seagrass mat; it’s not good for them to get wet. Dry vacuuming is the best method of keeping your mats clean. Can you steam clean Seagrass? Never use a steam cleaner or carpet shampoo to wash your mat. Seagrass is a natural fibre, steam and moisture will weaken the material and can cause it to warp and lose its shape How do you get pet urine out of a Seagrass rug? Blot up as much of the spot as possible by pressing firmly with clean, white paper or cloth towels, working from the outside of the spot inward to avoid spreading. To neutralize the odour, mix ¼ cup of white vinegar with ¼ cup of water. Alternately dab a towel dampened in the solution and blot with a dry towel. How to clean red wine or tomato sauce? Dab with a white cloth dampened with soda water to neutralize the spill and remove any possible stain. Placement of Seagrass Mats Seagrass mats is best placed indoors or under cover on open patio/veranda areas. They are not suited to be used in bathrooms.
